“degenerate” art
Link: `Degenerate’ Art Seized by Nazis Winds Up in Rostock Exhibition (Bloomberg)
Review by Catherine Hickley
June 11 (Bloomberg) — When Nazi art dealer Bernhard Boehmer and his wife took their lives with cyanide capsules rather than submit to the advancing Soviet troops in 1945, they left behind more than 1,000 artworks seized from German museums.
These were among the 20,000 works by artists condemned as “degenerate” that the Nazis confiscated in 1937. Many were destroyed. Boehmer was one of just four dealers permitted by Joseph Goebbels to sell them abroad for foreign currency.
In 1947, Soviet forces seized the hoard a second time — this time from Boehmer’s heir. They handed it over to the museum in the German Baltic port of Rostock, where it has dwelt ever since.

The Best of Radiohead?
I get an email from the iTunes Store every week alerting me of new releases similar to the stuff I have. Normally i just review this in the car on the way to work and delete it. No surprises. Until today, when i saw this:
The Best of Radiohead
Radiohead
Release Date: Jun 03, 2008
Total Songs: 17
Radiohead with a Best-Of album? Not that they don’t deserve one. In fact, if I remember correctly I actually bought two copies of Kid A because I enjoyed the album so much I thought it was worth more than what i paid for it. They have never struck me as the kind of band who would release something like this. Maybe they are looking for alternate ways to finance their pick-your-price album pricing for the amazing In Rainbows album.
